1839 Centre for Historic Photographic Processes, is an initiative where we offer students, artist, educators, art historians to involve in 19th century photographic processes. At 1839 CHPP, encourage participants to rediscover the 19th century photography processes and a window back in time. Understanding Photography practices of 19th century like making a glass plate negative, salt or albumen print to silver gelatin POP paper; offers the uniqueness of the processes and their respective aesthetics.

We Offer workshops for:

  1. Ambrotypes and Tintypes
  2. Wet Plate collodion Negative and Salted Print Process
  3. Salted print Process, Albumen print Process, and Digital Negatives
  4. Carbon Transfer Print Process and Digital Negatives
  5. Gum Dichromate Print Process and Digital Negatives
  6. Collodion Emulsion
  7. Silver Gelatin Emulsions

With the vision of encouraging people to rediscover the 19th century photography processes and a window back in time, Malhar Dhruv, the founder, wants to share his knowledge of Historic Photography Processes to encourage the so called modern photographers to experience the historic heritage.

Along with the workshop, one can also buy accessories including contact print frames, drying rack, and the chemicals required for historic photography Processes. We also provide printing services in archival digital printing, digital negatives, salted paper prints, carbon prints, and gum prints.

At 1839 CHPP we welcome photographers, artists, photo-hobbyist, educators, to experience historic processes and communicate with the physicality of prints, especially through colors, their tonal range, sheen, and depth.
